So newegg had the deal for a sapphire 6950 OC edition that came with battlefield 3 and dirt 3. I bought it because it seemed like a good deal. So was it worth my money do you think?

Thanks

it's a steal at that price my friend. they're normally much more expensive. I've been recommending it to people with a $200 budget since yesterday when I noticed the sale... Auntarie's correct in his recommendation as well, but that's an extra $70, and the same can be said that another $70 will get you a 7870, an a $50 on top of that will get you to a gtx 670...

Personally, I think that you would have been better off paying $70 extra for a GTX 570. A lot of people say that it matches and is even better than a 6970, which is $340.

But the 6950 is a good card too, seems like you made a good deal there. It will probably play BF3 in high @ 1080p and that's really what determines if a card is worth it these days :D

But next time you might wanna consult with somebody before purchasing important tech.

Just bought one myself to crossfire with my current 6950 2GB. Quite excited for it to get here.

I've been recommending this deal on pretty much every thread I've seen asking about sub-$300 graphics cards.

Even if you can't unlock it (though you can definitely try), most of the performance gap with the 6970 is from clocks and RAM. OCed, even with the extra shaders, it can match 6970 performance. And that Sapphire should OC very well. (I have an XFX 6950 that's OCed to 6970 speeds--it's excellent, even though I wasn't able to unlock it.) For $200, still a great card.
