Hi,

I've just purchased a 7850 to go with a new build but it only has 1 DVI-I output, the rest are HDMI or Mini display.
I currently have 2 monitors and run an extended desktop onto the dual display, but one of them only has a VGA port (the other a VGA and a DVI).

Am I right in saying the DVI-I output can cope with an analogue output to a VGA monitor(there was an adaptor included to change the pin output)?
Am I also right in saying I may have to do this and then get a HDMI to DVI adaptor as you can't cross digital to analogue without a proper adaptor rather than just one that changes the pin output, so I need to use the DVI-I output as an analogue connection and use the digital from the HDMI port?

If I just went DVI-DVI then I could go HDMI to VGA but I think that requires something to change the signal type?

yeah, it would be cheapest to go with DVI-I to vga and HDMI to DVI.

hdmi to vga adapter would need active converter circuitry, and it'll be more expensive...
