Hi,

Trying to decide on a new video card for my system:

My current PC Specs are:
Power Supply: Velocity Micro 500W (planning to upgrade to corsair CX600)
Motherboard: Asus P5NE-SLI
Processor: Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66mhz
Ram: 2x1GB DDR2 800 Corsair XMS2
Hardrive: 500gb WD
Video Card: BFG 7900GS

My budget is around $100 and these are the video cards (after rebate) that fit my budget:

GTX 460 ti (192 bit version)
GTX 550 ti
Radeon 7750
Radeon 6850

I have been using the 7900 for about 3-4 years now and have been able to get medium settings on this card for most games. The goal of this upgrade is so that i can still play games on atleast medium settings for the next 3-4 years.

What card out of these three would you all recommend?

Thank you for any help/info you can offer!

sorry but not gonna happen at medium for next couple of years with high end games eg bf3 (you would struggle to get medium with that cpu) but yeah maybe if you will get close with mmo's and stuff that are easy on your hardware. get some aftermarket cpu cooling you should be able to get the c2d up to atleast 3.5ghz with a bit of persuasion. get a minimum extra 2 gig ram i had a 7900gs extreme they have been around a lot longer than 3-4 years

Ya i saw that card, but i'm not fond of refurbished video cards

sorry thought you were saying by putting the video card in you were hoping for another 3-4years with that alone. personally i like to sell my video cards every 18 months while they still have some value and just do an upgrade for 100bucks or so cos in 3 years they arent worth a thing, just a thought!

hmm good idea, that makes sense.

Now i'm actually wondering about the sapphire radeon 6850 vs the evga 550. I know that all the benchmarks and opinions out there tend to favor the 6850, but on newegg the 550 gets amazing reviews...

The 6850 is definitely much better than the 550 ti. I honestly don't know why the 550 ti sells so much and has so many great reviews...

What about the 6850 vs the newer 7770?

From what i have seen, the 7770 is only 128 bit, but very competitive in performance with the 6850. However the 7770 is actually cheaper after rebates but has very little reviews on newegg.

The 6850 is slightly better than the 7770, but honestly I think I would go with the 7770 just because of less power usage, noise, heat, etc. Also the 6850 is a card that had its benchmark performance boosted but in real games it's not as good.
