Hi there, I'll be returning from Afghanistan in about a month or so, and plan on using some cash to build a new rig for the home. This will be mostly used for gaming, as well as the media server for the home theater. This is my 4th build.
As of right now, trying to stay under $2k, when all is said and done. I'm just looking to the community to make sure I'm not missing anything, or if you see some serious compatibility issues/suggestions. Also, the monitor was an afterthought, since I have a 22" at home, I just felt like upgrading and the price seemed good These are all based on current Newegg availability and pricing:
CASE: COOLER MASTER HAF 912: $60.00

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit - OEM: $190
COOLER MASTER R4-S2S-124K-GP 120mm Case Fan 4 in 1 pack : $14
Total: ~$1750, less if I decide against the monitor.
I have a builders copy of Windows Home I can use, but the Ultimate seemed a little more Ultimate-y, so I figured why not.
Drop the Sabertooth. It is overpriced for the features. Get a Gigabyte Z77 UD3H. Use the $ saved on a better case, like the 500R. Drop the monitor to a VH238H. Better pixels per inch and cheaper. Drop the W7 Ultimate. Get Home premium. Btw, why did you make two topics?
