Hard disk drive crash

My hard disk drive just crashed last night. How can one try and recover the data?

If you hear noises coming out of it, then its sure is a goner unless you want to pay loads of money to the people mentioned by Arrow. Then again it could be the power supply failing. Check it out by swapping the PS or transfer it to another system.

It don't come easy.......not always.
