Computer shutting down itself when left in idle and Power led blinks

Hi guys, facing a weird issue from past few days ie,whenever i m leaving my comp in IDLE suppose downloading so turned the monitor off...after a specific time(30mins approx.) my pc shuts off & just the power led blinks on the CPU case, all fans stopped. To start again i have to turn off the main & again turn it on & start the pc & it starts with the screen that windows has shutted down abnormally(safe mode, start windows normally page ;)).One thing to notice while i m on the pc this doesnt happens even after hrs whatever i do(games, media conversion etc)..OC to 3.4ghz only cpu ratio(multiplier) is changed to 17 from 16,bios almost set to default values,no heat issues, power settings ok,psu is <1 month old & tested with full load,no malware(BIS 2013)...then where is the damn problem..????? :fou: How i can save the event log???

  1. Here are a few things to help trouble shoot...

First off update your BIOS/Drivers if not yet updated
    http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM3Plus/M5A88M/#download

    Then try clearing your CMOS

Then Try messing with the power options in Control panel

Then Run Memtest(test one stick at a time and do the usb version and boot off the usb)
    http://www.memtest.org/

    then run Burnintest(get standard version)
    http://www.passmark.com/download/bit_download.htm

    Then test your psu

And finally try replugging/checking all conections in case.

    Really hope this helps! :D
  2. Thanks Panicmaster85 but i found the reason...actually its not an issue of h/w or s/w it was happening due to Sleep was set to 30mins..Case solved :)
  3. hahahaha the dumbest but easiest fix... dont feel too bad i took mine in because the screen went black in about 5min turns out it was the power saver thing :na:

    anyways glade to help! :D
