So, I was left with two choices, Intel Core i3 2100 and AMD FX-4100. My Brother picked the AMD one.
My Computer Rig
AMD FX 4100 OC'd to 4GHz
4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Radeon HD 4830

Have I really wasted my Money by purchasing the FX4100? Please tell me, is that CPU really bad?

I would have taken the I3 considering that the Bulldozer couldn't even beat the Phenom II that it was suppose to be replacing. What are you doing with this computer?

I am born to be a Gamer. So I generally do gaming on my computer. Is that CPU worth it? :/

P.S: If I overclock it to 4.6Ghz, Will it be able to beat i3 2120 in any way?

Meh it's ok. It's slower than the I3 and sometimes the Phenom II and depending on your settings can bottleneck high-end video cards. If you overclock it it will be good enough.

Umm.. Currently I have a Stock Cooler of Cooler Master. My Current Idle Temperature at 4GHz is 10 Celcius. Can I just simply overclock it to 4.6Ghz with the Stock Cooler?

no, i wouldnt recommand that and 10 celcius doesnt make any sense. 30 maybe but 10 thats not even possible, ur getting wrong temperatures.

No Bulldozer already runs hot. If you try overclocking with the stock heatsink the CPU will overheat. The stock heatsink can't handle the extra heat created by overclocking.

Also I am running Windows 8, will that Improve some performance of Bulldozer Chip?

Don't worry, if you can get the FX upto 4.0-4.2 GHz, that's more than enough. The FX won't be bottle necking your HD 4850. Really not worth pushing it all the way upto 4.6GHz with excessive volts, and killing the chip in a year or two.

Even tom's hardware says the FX 4170 (nothing but a 4100, factory clocked at 4.2GHz) ties in Gaming performance with the recent Intel i3-3220. The i3-3220 is about 5% or more faster than the older i3-2120.

So the bottom line is this, stop worrying about CPU performance and start to enjoy your Gaming!!! :D

Thanks! I was about to sell my CPU+Mobo and was planning to buy i3-3220.
I think Overclocking would be good rather than throwing that CPU away right?
I have a question, How much I need to overclock FX4100 to beat or to exactly match i3 3220?

i dunno but i think past 4.7 gigahertz u should be good to equalize or beat the 3220 by a small margin, also we need to think about ur new heatsink whats ur budget for an aftermarket cooler?

also what powersupply do u currently own?

As I stated $20 (1000 Rupees)
I want to ask one thing, can I just simply overclock My FX4100 4.2GHz without any new cooler and Voltage changes?

i wouldnt recommand this, overclocking on stock is the worst idea ever, and might damage ur cpu.

well the best i can see for overclocking would be 2200 rupees,

http://www.flipkart.com/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo/p/i...

i wouldnt recommand anything under this.

Thats more than my double to my budge :/

Best solution

Selling your mobo+CPU now is nothing but a waste of money. Read this para from the article that compared the FX to the i3

"First of all, AMD’s FX-4100 isn't necessarily the disappointment it appeared to be in our sub-$200 gaming processor comparison if you match it up to a comparably entry-level graphics card. Equipped with anything slower than a Radeon HD 6950, you can set your resolution and detail settings as high as possible to maintain a 30 FPS minimum, and in most cases, the graphics card will emerge as your bottleneck. "

Yes, and your old HD 4830 is definitely much more slower that the HD 6950. Infact its a joke compared to the HD6950, almost 3 times slower!!! If i'm not wrong, the current integrated AMD 7660D on the A10-5800k performs as good as your discrete card, if not better!!

So like i said before, don't worry, the CPU is NOT gonna be causing you any bottlenecks anytime soon. Enjoy your gaming, and stop unnecessarily worrying :)

You've asked the wrong question.:)  The right question is, "How much do I need to overclock FX4100 to get smooth FPS, that averages atleast 45fps or more in the games I play.". Most probably the answer to that question is ~4.0 GHz :)  Spare that more extreme 4.6GHz OC for later, when you buy a better graphics card down the line :)
