You probably will notice a change

VGA/DE-15F is an analog signal which tends to degrade in quality as resolution goes up. Some people may say otherwise but I noticed a large difference in image sharpness and clarity when using a digital signal (HDMI/Dual Link DVI-A/DisplayPort).

If you can use an HDMI or DVI-A/I cable then you certainly should.

Agree with the above statements. Go with the digital route if you have the means especially when gaming.

VGA was fine for 1600x1200 gaming years ago. (1.92M pixels.) 1920x1080 is 2.07M pixels which isn't very many more.

I would still use HDMI however as a digital signal will allow for HDCP viewing. Picture quality shouldn't be much different if at all. (meaning it might just be in your head) But not having issues when watching protected media will make it worth it.
