Newer graphics card is worse than older one?

Hello,

While I know the Radeon HD 6670 I bought isn't top of the line, I knew it was certainly an improvement from my 8600GT I was upgrading from.

However, after installing the new card, cinematics in video games have been stuttering, and the stuttering has occasionally leaked into my game play. Example game would be Splinter Cell: Conviction. This has never occurred before.

I am running Windows 8 (beta), which I thought may be the issue, but my old 8600 worked (without any drivers, even!). What's going on with my computer? I am running at 1600x900, so not too taxing.

Posts like this one are typical. This is not an uncommon issue.

Besure to uninstall all of the previous graphic drivers.

Once done reboot and do a full install of the catalyst software.

I don't think the PSU is a factor but out of curiosity what is its wattage?

I'll try that and report back.

It's 600 watts, so it's not on that end.

They are 2 different cards by 2 different manufacturers. Plus Windows 8 is still not final. Are you using the CP or RP ? Windows 8 wouldnt be the best to benchmark your new card.
