CPU: AMD FX-4100
GPU: 6950 2gb 256bit
MOBO: ASUS M5A97
RAM: G.Skill 8gb 1600

also running a HDD and a SSD.

would a 500-600watt PSU do this?

More about : build unsure size psu

Yes, it would. Go 650W to be 100% sure. There aren't that many good 600W units out there.

I love my PC Power and Cooling Mk III, 600 watt PSU. If you do some shopping you can usually get a rebate.

My suggestion is to get the highest wattage QUALITY PSU you can afford. It will cost a little more. Think of it as an insurance policy. Any PSU running at 50% of rated capacity will greatly outlast the same supply running at 90%+ of rated capacity.

600w is more than enough bro. if he is going to use another video card in the future, then get a 750w

Hey there - good PSU brands include Seasonic (my personal choice), Corsair, Antec, and some models from PC Power and Cooling, XFX, and others.

Warranty and efficiency will separate the best models from the so-so models.

why you say that? OCZ is actually a very good psu especially price. There customer service is awesome. Corsair are the best but expensive. Antec customer service is awful, Corsair im not sure

whats corsair warranty? I got a zt750w for 79.99 with rebate, 5 year warranty. I also had a ocz modstream for 3 years. I had a problem with it after warranty and they replaced it. Customer service of OCZ is #1 LOOK IT UP

i dont recommend ocz becaue of their lower reliability rates and that they dont always have the best components used. their zt lineup had a loud fan problem. not to mention how many of their products fail (especially their vertex 3s and agility 3 series of SSDs)

corsair has 5 years on medium level power supplys and 7 years for the higher end stuff. they are also known to be good

the ZT problem was fixed i was told, only a few had this problem and was addressed, all of them received a new one from OCZ. Years ago they had a bad batch problem but the last 3 years OCZ has been reliable not as good as Corsair, Corsair is the best no debating that but I think OCZ is second, Antecs are bad. Customer service is awful

OCZ ZT750w is 79.99 with rebate, HX-750 is $144.99. OCZ is backed by 5years, Corsair 7Years but its almost double price, no thanks

OCZ will stand by you, no ? asked. Again fan noise was fixed and people had a RMA, every company has a bad patch or two, its how the company deals with it and OCZ clearly did that.

yeah but corsair hx750w is more efficent and made by a better company (the best company: seasonic). corsair doesnt really have a lot of bad units.

but i can buy 2 OCZ for 1 hx750, lol. Seasonic yes awesome but again overpriced. I had 1 problem with OCZ and they replaced it so whats the problem?

thats because they are not as high quality. i see your reasoning. you dont have to get it from seasonic or corsair (especially not from corsair)

I disagree, the Quality of them where bad years ago, actually some OCZ now are made by seasonic. ZT Series I beleive is now made by seasonic.

There is no best but if i had to say one no doubt it's Seasonic Corsair doesn't build their PSU.XFX One of my personal favorites because of the aesthetics, all XFX power supplies are made by Seasonic and all highly rated as well.Silverstone PSU's range from average to excellent depending on the manufacturer. Seasonic my personal preference in power supplies, if they make it I'll buy it. All of their PSU's that I have used worked extremely well.Seasonic manufactures their own power supplies!*note-PC Power & Cooling is owned by OCZ PC Power & Cooling has very highly reviewed power supplies and come with seven year warranty
i have personally used them as well as many my friends funny thing is their PSU are built by Seasonic and Sirtec so that explains why there very good.OCZ is not my favorite company, not by a long shot, however they do make some quite good power supplies to my surprise. Avoid Epsilon platform models as they are an old design which is questionable. The Impervio and Sirtec models are highly rated. The FSP PSU's for OCZ are average. All reviews and testing of Kingwin suggests they are a good buy. Hardly ever the cheapest but never the most expensive, its a good alternative to bigger names their psu are all built by - Super Flower.Corsair is a well known supplier of PSU's with top notch ratings with good value. The models made by Seasonic tend to be the quietest imo. The new AX series is the newest and best imo. Surprisingly even the CWT models are well reviewed.

OCZ ZT series had good reviews and i was also concerned with fan. I was told by OCZ rep it was solved and if it was a issue they will replace psu. For me i didnt see the extra dollars but thats me.
