im thinkin about changing my outdated i3-2310m for a new Intel i7-2820QM can anyone tell me if this change is supported by my bios? I got a Dell XPS17 L702X
Cpu socket: rPGA988b
code name: sandy bridge
motherboard model: 0Xn71K
i would be really happy if you guys could help me.

If Dell sold the laptop with the processor with that computer, it'll support it.
I honestly wouldn't bother - changing laptop processors is difficult and is considered a waste of time. Save your cash to build a desktop that you can upgrade much more easily!

What's the power of the Brick? Also, I wouldn't even bother upgrading because it'll benefit nothing... It'll benefit nothing because it's a laptop, a CPU upgrade would be a waste, not only that, it also have low performance boost over the i3... On a destop, a jump from i3 to i7 is so huge, it's worth the money... Beside, I dont think that laptop even have a video card...
