I have a Westell A90 750045 07 DSL modem and I'm adding more computers (8) than I have ports (4). Can I add a wired router to connect my extra computers and, if so, which would be best?

  1. Can you go wireless? Usually any wireless router has only 4 Ethernet ports, but can handle more computers and other devices wirelessly. For instance, I only have one computer and one PS3 slim in the bedroom hooked in via Ethernet CAT 5e. All other computers and devices are connected wirelessly. In my case I have 4 laptops, one Xbox 360, one fat PS3 in the living room, and my iPod touch.

Anyhow, take a look at this 8-port wireless router, a D-Link DIR-632 Wireless-N 8-Port Route. However, I cannot say if this router is any good, but I hope this chit-chat can help you.
  2. Thanks for your reply. In this case, it cannot be wireless (which would have been my choice). There are issues with other sensitive equipment that must be considered. I was thinking of going with this router: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-EZXS88W-EtherFast-8-Port-Workgroup/dp/B00003006K/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312668124&sr=1-3
