So I today I received another XFX HD 6950 DD from Scan.co.uk for a crossfirex config with my existing card (exact same one). My power supply is a TX750 and so provides enough power to the cards. However, after I set up the cards and installed all the necessary divers (and switched it to crossfire mode in CCC), I played some BF3 to try it out and the fps was no different, the extra card was not making any difference. I have tried both cards individually and tried 2 different crossfire bridges, but to no avail. Please help as I hope I haven't just wasted £160 on another GPU.

Regards
Ollie

What board do you have?

Both cards work fine individually... did you try single card config in both PCIe x16 slots?

Also what drivers?

Download Catalyst12.6 here if you're not already on it.

Are you positive both cards aren't working in CF? Perhaps Vsync is on?

A good program for monitoring GPU usage in-game is MsiAfterBurner. Configure it's OSD and run a game.

try running something like 3d Mark as it will give you a score not a perceived value.
try with CFX disabled and Enabled and see what happens with the score.

Pls post your system specs as other components (Mainly CPU) may be the limiting factor and not the GPU's

So, I guess that my CPU is bottleneckign the performance. So now that we have found the limiting factor, what AMD CPU would you guys suggest? Phenom, Bulldozer or wait for piledriver?

Would you suggest the FX-8150?

No... not to be too abrasive but FX sucks... what are you willing to spend?

Anything from PII 965be - 980be would suffice.

If you have the time and the $$ for a new board I'd suggest Intel... there isn't an area where Intel doesn't have AMD beat.

Saints row 3, But that...that never runs well. Valve games tend to scale pretty well though.

Sorry, my mistake on the last post. The valve games were set to low for some reason/ So CF doesn't work in a single game. The crossfire does not affect a single game but it does affect benchmarks.
