I am going to buy a new processor and i cant decide which one is better for me,i will use it mostly for gaming and video editing ,I will overclock it(not too much).
I can choose the i5 2500k or the i5 3570k.

Note i can get the Core i5 3570k for 15$ less than the i5 2500k.

Please tell me the differences between these two CPUs, which one is better and why.

Thank you!

There really isn't that much of a difference. The I5 3570 is 22nm instead of 32nm's and slightly faster and has better integrated graphics but in terms of real world performance there won't be a huge noticable difference.

If you are using custom cooling solution and plan to overclock quite high, 2500K would be good choice. If not, then go with 3570k.

Sandy Bridge can be OC'ed up to 4.7GHz most of the time it seems.

Ivy Bridge can be OC'ed to about 4.4GHz. However, IB is also about 6% on average more powerful than SB; so an IB @ 4.4GHz is basically equal to a SB @ 4.66GHz; pretty close to 4.7GHz.

I've read that the Sandy Bridge CPUs run cooler, and that with the proper cooler & if you get a CPU from a good batch, you can go as high as 5GHz and it'll run as cool or cooler than an Ivy Bridge at 4.7GHz.
