ViDock requires something called a PC Express Card Slot. The following is an example:

Most laptops nowadays no longer have this type of slot. It has probably been disappearing from laptops since around 2008 or 2009. They were pretty much a standard back around 2000 thru the mid 2000's. You need to consult your laptop manual to determine if it has a PC Express Card Slot. There should be a few diagrams depicting all the ports and slots that your laptop has from all sides.

Is there a alternative to using that?

Nope. A PC Express Card Slot is mandatory.
