After giving up 300 herb/alchemy I'm nearing the decision for either armour
or weaponsmith.
Anyone know what one is best for making money? (realise that is a very
general question!)
I heard that with armour smith you can make a lot of things and get smaller
profits and with weaponsmith you make less things but larger profits.
Some of the high end weapons use 15x Arcanite bars, that seems expensive to
make!
I've heard alot about making and selling Phantom blades, I guess you have to
be a weaponsmith for that. I heard of armour smiths making good profits
too.
When your a weaponsmith I heard you have to choose either sword, mace or axe
smith later on??
Oh and anyone know a good place for mithril, I've been in Tanaris, found a
bit, but wouldnt mind finding more if there is a place with more?

I'm master swordsmith, so obviously I'm weaponsmith. I did this because I
want to make things for my warrior to use, and he's almost got the full
valor set, etc. and so making armor just seemed less interesting to me. As
for making money - I can see almost no way that I'll ever make up all the
money I spent lvling my BS up. I switched late as well and had a good stock
of gold that I'd accumulated. I am still only at BS skill 272, and I've
probably spent upwards of 400 gold to get there. There are no longer any
items to make that give skill that are simple. Now they are all weapons
with 6 or 8 components, and nearly always cost more to make than you can
sell them for. So I wouldn't look at this as a money-making proposition.
So far I've made 8 or 10 blights for guildies, and maybe 5 phantom blades.
It's cool to be able to give a comrade a nice lvl 45 weapon, right when they
just lvl to be able to use it.
I do have my arcanite champion plan in the bank, as well as the corruption
sword plan and the frostblade 1H plan. I just hope they add some kind of
epic recipe quest or something. As it stands now, there are so many epic
items coming from BG or from MC, etc. that noone with enough gold to buy the
higher end swords will bother.

Hi
You sound like a friend of mine, an armour smith whose level 48 and
permanetly broke since he's leveling up his blacksmithing! He's taken to
running around some level 50 areas to get thorium but I doubt he's getting
much as it hard enough to get it without getting loads of aggro.
After about 12hrs or more collecting ore Ive given it up, just got mining to
245 to collect thorium (from the small desposits, don't know about the rich)
now chose enchanting for when I goto SM
I've made a little money, since I mined everything myself, most expensive
parts were getting artisan mining and buying a load of coal to smelt steel.
Its really hard to level BS up, had to have lots of ore and I always chose
the reciepes that used the least ore.

You can't be too concerned about making money if you just gave up the
biggest money-makers...
