Network switch

I have 8 port NetGear Switch and connected all ports. I want to connect one more connection.
Can I connect from 1 port to 2 port through jack splitter. I connected like this method. But it is not working properly. Please give more ideas. Please Help me.

Their is a limit to jack splitter, if exceeded then their is a degradation in the performance, building up a new switch can be one solution.
