Built my own system have 2 problems:

Build parts

Zalman Z11Plus case
Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard
Intel i5 3570K procssor
16GB (2 x 8gb) ram G skills 2133 latency 9
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Westerdigital 500 GB 7200 RPM 2nd hard disk
850 watt power supply

Boots fine but and runs real nice excpet for 2 things:

When I go to shut it down with windows it reboots.

If I understand correctly the Intel 3570K should have the intel built in video and cannot get any video output when I connect my display to the VGA port. The VGA drivers for the on board video are loaded. Have to install an old video card to get video to work.

Wondering if the utilities that come with the system are a problem.

I am almost 100% sure that the rebooting problem is caused by a mistake when you wired your case cables to the motherboard and put the powerbutton cable in the reset pins of your motherboard.

I am not sure about the video problem tough... have you tried connecting your PC to a decent monitor? i mean...something that doesnt have VGA only..:p

Well, i doubt your GPU is the problem... but you can do a little test that will tell you if its the monitor or GPU.

get a laptop and try to output video to the monitor, if it works then your GPU is faulty if it doesnt then you put that monitor out of its micery once and for all :D

Let em clarify-

The monitor works when plugged into an Nvidia 260 card in the new PC.

When I plug the monitor into the on baord VGA port on the motherboard I get no video .

So it is not the monitor.

Well then there you have it, the problem is either your VGA port or your CPU (wich i doubt)
