I'm torn between the two, I'm happy to overclock them and I'm gaming at 1920x1080. Which will be the better card for gaming since they are the same price to me? Both are about $530.

are you sure you don't mean a 680? because $530 is TOO MUCH!

This an international site. People who live in south africa or brazil can't just diddle newegg and get the going rate on gear.

At the same price I would go with the 670.

Edit: Good call looniam. After a little googling he is right. Also, after nvidia gets all the kinks worked out of their drivers the 670 stands to gain even more performance.

That is from guru 3d I believe, and it is a decent read, and toms review also confirms their performance findings. The 670 does lead but not by as much as bf3 that you quoted.

And though the 7970 is a good overclocker, I would still go with the 670 as I like nvidias feature set more. I really like ambient occlusion especially. If you are an ocer the 7970 is still viable in my opinion though.

The HD 7970 is better then 670
THe HD 7970 competes with the 680 not with 670.
And as you said both are $530 then $530 is more then enough the price of 670 is around $420 the price of 680 is $530
Here is the comparision

I think it is a tie
there is only one problem with using the anandtech GPU comparison . .not all GPUs where with the same test set up.

comparing CPUs ok but GPUs . .nope.

Nah they are both around $520, it's ridiculous but this site is one of the cheapest I know of in Australia.

GTX 670
GTX 680
HD 7970

I've seen reviews where the 7970OC and the 680OC are compared and they come out on a tie, but then I look at Tom's and see that the 7970 is slightly beat by the 670 in games like BF3. So I'm not too sure.

I would choose a 7970 over a 670 if it were me, you can get fantastic performance very easily using CCC, most cards can hit +200MHz on the core clock, nearly all can do 150.

That said I would take a 680 above a 7970.

The GTX 670 is a marvel of efficiency, using very little power with quiet performance while remaining in the same performance bracket as other more expensive video cards. Don't discount the added value of PhysX, Adaptive VSync, FXAA, TXAA, and forced Ambient Occlusion.

wtf noob lol

only on 1080p. im playing crysis 1 on 1440p with no AA and im getting 35 average with 670. from benchmarks 7970 is much better at 1440p, over 6 frames better from anadtech or something
