I'm thinking about upgrading my current Hd 6770 for a Gtx 570. Like the 6770, it has a recommended minimum 550w psu. My current pc has a dvd drive and a blu-ray drive. One Hdd, and an Intel 630. My current psu is the corsair 430cvx2.

My concern is if my psu will be enough for the Gtx, since I've read that the minimum psu rating is just to be safe. I will most likely remove the dvd drive if needed. Thanks in advanced

Solution
your current psu has 28 amps on the 12v rail....a gtx 570 needs at least 38 amps....so the answer is no, your psu will not run a gtx 570

AMD actually specifies only 450W for the 6770 & only 1 PCIe connector. That is why you can get away with it on a CX430. But GTX 570 requires 2x6PIN so you lack the connectors & I guess GTX570 power demand will push your cx430 beyond limits.

Better go with the 7850. It performs around the same as the GTX570 (give & take) and requires only 1 PCIe connector. Your CX430 will suit it well.
