Having a problem with my neighbors new computer I just built for her. The floppy drive which is a brand new Samsung doesn't seem to be working. When I click on the A: drive and I have tried this with *several* different disks it says "Please inserts disk in drive A:".

Motherboard is an Asus A7N8X-X with WindowsXP Pro. installed. Thanks for any help... maybe it needs a driver update?

Also, the floppy drive cable is installed correctly.

Does the light come on? Does it stay on, or go out?

He says he's absolutely sure it's on the right way, usually when someone says that it's because the cable is keyed, but the floppy drive isn't. Or they matched the red stripe up on the same side as the CD-ROM drives.

Floppy drives should have the key facing downward, with the red stripe on the left as you face the rear of the drive (as opposed the IDE drives which have the red stripe on the right as you face the drive, and the key pointing upwards).

He sounds like he's pretty sure of himself.
