I have an Asrock AliveNF5-eSATA2+ motherboard Rev. 2.01, NOT R3.0. I am trying to up-grade my cpu from an Athlon X2 to an AMD Phenom X4 9600. Asrock web site state that the AliveNF5-eSATA2+ (no mb rev. indicated) supports this processor, and that the AliveNF5-eSATA2+ R3.0 also supports this cpu. Asrock tech support responded that rev. 2.01 DOES support the Phenom 9600. After purchasing an AMD Phenom X4 9600 HD9600WCJ4BGD from ebay, my AliveNF5-eSATA2+ Rev. 2.01 will not POST. Seller states that the processor was from a working computer.
Thus, either this cpu is DOA, or Asrock cpu support is not correct. Rather than purchase yet another Phenom and learn by trial and error, I am looking for someone with an AliveNF5-eSATA2+ motherboard Rev. 2.01 who has had a working AMD Phenom in this motherboard. Many posts i have reviewed do not indicate the motherboard rev. so I am asking for someone with rev. 2.01 to let me know if they have had a phenom working in this rev. mb.
