Hi guys, I'm doing my first gaming pc build and have found myself in a predicament. I have this really good deal off an i7-2600k and asus maximus iv extreme mobo that makes it equal in price to me in comparison to simply getting i5-3570k and and asrock z77 extreme 4 mobo (with all other parts remaining equal). I know it's both an i7 and a higher end mobo in the prior, but being sandy bridge and z68 chipset I'm worried that the technology may become outdated (I want to make this last at least 3 years ish). What are your opinions? What should I go for?

(p.s. my other parts are a corsair tx 650 watt psu, 8 gb g skill ram, coolermaster haf 912 (also got a deal on a snow edition thermaltake case if I buy the i7-2600k), evga gtx 670, standard dvd burner and 1 tb western digital black)

I guess if it's the same price you might as well get the i7. It's kind of a waste for only gaming though.

I recommend getting the 3570k and overclock it a little bit. You will get better performance if not the same when gaming with the 3570k as hyper-threading gives no boost when it comes to gaming.
