Hi All,
When I'm online, I keep getting pop-up window asking if I want to download/upgrade to Flash 5.0 by Macromedia. It shows up as a security warning.

What is Flash 5.0? I don't think I have a "Flash X.0" to upgrade from. Is this an ad? I tend to think not, because it happens no matter what website I'm visiting. If it is, its insidious because it chases me around evidently.

Thanks,
Hal

Its a software download so you can view certain types of files web based graphics. Video (moving graphics actually) files I think.

Go <A HREF="http://www.zdnet.com/products/stories/reviews/0,4161,2629203,00.html" target="_new">here</A> to find out more.

"Flash is a standard for interactive vector graphics and animation for the Web. Web designers use Flash to create beautiful, resizable, and compact navigation interfaces, technical illustrations, long-form animation, and other dazzling effects for their sites. Graphics and animation will antialias and scale based on the viewer's screen size, providing for high-quality viewing. Flash also contains advanced Web animation with exciting transparency and shape blending effects. Movie clip and button actions create sophisticated interactivity without scripting."

Its safe if thats what you're wondering.

Flash is small interative graphics you can view on the web - they can be interactive or just pretty moving text images to grab you attention. Eg - say I move my mouse over a button and the button merges into a different image - thats flash.

Download from <A HREF="http://www.macromedia.com" target="_new">Macromedia</A>
