Upgrading a Dell PE2950 for home use?

I have a dell power edge server 2950 server running widows 32 bit os installed a pcie sound card and i get no sound and after a little while the whole computer locks up then I have to turn the power off. Installed sound card drivers do I need to do something else.

It maybe a bios issue the server was never meant to support sound cards or video cards. I have never tried a sound card but I have seen may attempts with video cards all failed due to lack of bios support for the device. You may have better luck with a USB sound card.

yeh u might be right tried usb sound card the. the computer didnt lock up but no music played
