Gtx 670 or 7850

hello everybody
i was planning to buy this rig
gpu : 7850
cpu : i5 3570k
and i have
ram : 4 gb
and monitor : 1600x900
but then after thinking a lot , i asked myself why don't i decrease the cpu and get a higher gpu so i thought about buying
gtx 670 with fx 4100 " i know it's a fail cpu from amd and i know it's bad for gaming but i wanted the least quad core cpu "
knowing that i can't increase my budget anymore :(
so please tell me which is better
gtx 670 with fx 4100
or hd 7850 with i5 3570k

which one will perform better with my 1600x900 monitor ??

another question , are cuda and physx important or ati cards are just fin ?? :)
plz answer the two questions
Thank you ..

More about 7850
  1. You are WAY better off with i3-2120 for gaming, no question. 7850 is fine for 1600x900 but obviously the GTX 670 is better, will handle the highest settings better and will obviously last longer. I would honestly get a better GPU than a better CPU if your budget is limited.

I agree but if you can hold off a little bit and buy both a better cpu and gpu because if you decide to upgrade later you would have to buy a while new motherboard

both cards are overkill for your monitor and will have no issue with any game you toss at them regardless of your CPU choice. why can't you go with something like the i5-2400 & AMD 7850?

most games don't use cuda and physx, if you google both you will find a short list of games that do. if you don't plan to play any of them then you really don't need to worry about cuda and physx.

well nice to know that :) , but do u mean that this card will be able to play heavy games with ultra settings on my monitor ?
and about the cpu i think the ivy will be better with the 7850 new architecture ..

    so u mean i go with i3 + gtx 670 over i5 + 7850 ??
will i be able to play latest games with that cpu ?? "on ultra settings and bf3 multiplayer "

yes of course i will buy a new mb but i will buy the cheapest one :P , and i think will not be able to get more money for short time to get the good gpu with cpu , so i think the 7850 with i5 is good , isn't it ?
  6. The i3 will probably bottleneck the GTX 670 though, so will the 4GB RAM.
  7. A GTX 670 is > HD 7850 + 7870 + 7950 + 7970. single 670 is better than all of these models.
    HD 7850 vs GTX 670
    HD 7870 vs GTX 670
    HD 7950 vs GTX 670
    HD 7970 vs GTX 670
  8. yes you wont see that much performance difference using hd 7850 betwenn these two chips but the i5 3570k is more better in all over performance it support 3.0 pcie and even power consumption is low and its just $10 more then i5 2500k thats why for now go for i5 3570k and the i5 2400 is not that good overclocker and not that good for its price better go with i5 3570k and be happy its more future proof:)

Are you planning to overclock in the future? If so get a gaming motherboard because you may want to SLI in the future and if you probably will want to OC your cpu
  10. I would get i3 with a 7850 and a better monitor (at least 1920 x 1080). You will enjoy gaming more and will still be able to play most games on Ultra.
  11. Choice betwen the 2 go with the 670 for price for performance. But both are overkill at that resolution.

An i5 would be nicer since its more powerful and he can buy an overclockable i5
  13. since i am on budget , i will buy a cheap motherboard so i wouldn't be able to overclock , maybe later i will upgrade it so i will be able to overclock and crossfire the 7850 too :) but i think this will be the next year or so , about ivy and sandy , i would go for ivy , i am bilding a 2012 rig so i want every thing to be new ^^ , and i know that the 3570k is better than 2500k at stock speed , and most of you say that the 7850 is overkill for my res so i will go for it
the lat question , i know it's repeated from me :) but just to make sure ....
    will i3 2120 bottleneck gtx 670 ??
    and Thank you all
  14. Depends on what game you play.

Depends on what game you play.

    all latest games bf3 , max payne 3 , skyrim , gta iv " and gta v in the future " , crysis , la noire .. etc " i love all new games " :D
i want to play them maxed out settings with 1600x900
so which one is better ??
  16. Best answer
if u wanna play all new games then go with i5 with hd 7850 this pair is more then enough for gaming.:)
  17. gtx 670 is good card got mine last week. i was told by loads of people on here dont look back as was asking loads of questions about what card to get and manim not looking back now this card is really good ull be impressed

i know this card is from the best cards ever , but i will use a bad cpu with it that's what i am asking about

i think you are right :) , and what do u think of 7870 with fx 6100 ??
  20. FX series CPUs are not good for gaming. I still think spend more on a monitor not CPU & GPU even a 6870 is overkill for that montor. The best gaming CPUs for the price are cheapest 1st
    Pentium Gxx series
    Core i3 2xxx series
    Core i5 2xxx series
Core i5 2500K if overclocking core i5 3570K if not.
its not worth considering any others.
  21. upgrade needed to that CPU...and the mobo... at your res either card is over kill... and not really a big fan of AMD cpus rt now... even the old i52500kis good vfm
  22. asus gtx 670 direct cu II top 2gb vs evga gtx 670 sc 4gb @ 1080p single monitor, which one is better ? price doesnt matter
  23. hello , i am on a limited budget and any increase in cpu will face a decrease in gpu and vice versa , so please help me choose between these choices

    gtx 670 with i3 2120 /fx 4100 ??
    or hd 7850 with i5 3570k ??
    or hd 7870 with fx 6100 ???

    i have 4 gb ram and 1600x900 res " maybe i upgrade to 1080p later "
i wanna play all latest games maxed out settings ...
so which is the best choice ??
    Thank you .
  24. if you're optimizing for game performance, radeon 7850 with i5 3570k will be the best combination
  25. I guess I should elaborate. the 7850 is already overkill for your current resolution, and is sufficient to max out just about anything at 1080p or under. especially if you're willing to overclock it.

meanwhile, both of those AMD CPUs will creat bottlenecks for your more powerful video card, which you don't need for the resolutions you want to game at anyway :)
  26. choice one if you play mostly non cpu consuming single player games. choice 2 if you want a more all around kind of build. I personally would like choice 2.
  27. thank you guys :) so i will go for the 7850 with 3570k :) but u said that the 7850 is overkill for my res ..very nice , but what if i got a 1080p monitor , will it be good ??

when overclocked, it will probably run most if not all games on 1920x1080 resolution with at least 40 fps. With the upcoming 12.7 catalyst drivers, the fps count may increase, as several gpus have already noted with the leaked 12.7 drivers to see a fps gain in gaming.
  29. it should run the vast majority of games maxed out at 1080p. only the most well known GPU benchmarking games: Crysis with all HD texture packs, BF3 huge multiplayer maps, etc, will you see fps dip below 60. may drop into 30s. but it's not a big deal, and it's usually something a simple drop from 4x to 2x AA can fix :)

    Please help me choose
  32. Very nice :) , so the 7850 + i5 3570k is the best choice till now :)
    the last question
    7850 + i5 3570k
    7870 + i5 2320
    which is the best ?
  33. i5 3570k.
  34. i3570 if u can afford that in your build
  35. i5 3570k with hd 7850 is best and the hd 7850 will be good on 1080p monitor you can max all games with some aa the i5 3570k over i5 2320 because the price difference is not that big between these two if u pay some more on i5 3570k then you will get more advantages for the price such as pcie 3.0 support with the i5 sb the pcie 3.0 will run 2.0 you can overclock if u need on i5 3570k and many more so get these pair and be happy goodluck.:)
