First build compatability questions

hi i want to build a computer and these are the components:

i have :
intel core 2 duo e6300 1.86 Ghzwill overclock
2+1 gigs of ddr2 677Mhz pc5300 non ecc ram
160 gig sata 3 hard drive with windows 7 ultimate
lite-on dvd burner

i will buy:
case and power supply: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156259
graphics card: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150611
motherboard: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138157
cpu fan and heatsink: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118128

i want to know if they will be compatable with each other so i can proceed and purchase them

i know the graphics card is pcie 3.0 and the motherboard only supports pcie 1.0 but its alright. i know the cpu is kind of old but ive been running it at stock at 1.86 and its pretty fast in my opinion. i plan to oberclock it so does anyone know how far i can go with it with the zalman cooler that i will buy. i also plan to overclock the memory to 800Mhz.
if it all goes as planned and the components will be goo together i will be building my first computer :D :D

  1. I would simply get a newer computer than this, but if you have your heart set on that CPU, then you should get a better motherboard.

No, it's not alright ot use that old motherboard that you looked at. It is kinda crappy beyond being old. You should also get a 2x2GB or a 2x4GB DDR3 RAM kit instead of considering that old, mismatching DDR2 memory that probably wouldn't work anyway (definitely wouldn't work in a DDR3 motherboard). Your other choices look good, but you might want to get a new hard drive some time soon too because that old one might fail soon.
  2. hi so i took your advice and added the motherboard to my cart i also added this memory: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313119 do you think i can overclock the memory to 1333 or even 1600. do you have an idea of how far i might be able to overclock the CPU that i have. thank you for the reply
  3. I'm not sure of how far you can overclock that CPU. At the most, I wouldn't even try to overclock the memory past 1600MHz, if even that far. 1333MHz is probably doable.

I don't know how far you can overclock that CPU. I've never used it, so I don't have person experience with it. If I had to guess, somewhere between 2.66GHz and 3.2GHz is where you'd find your limits, but that's a very rough estimate and it includes overvolting.

This card is even better and has about the same price ($1 more expensive isn't a big deal) as that GTX 560 SE if you count both shipping and the MIR.
  6. hey how about i get a Core 2 Quad Q9300 and overclock it till 3.0 Ghz+ radeon hd 7770 do you think it will last me for games maxed out at 1280x1024
  7. Show me where the 7770 is better than the 560 SE.
  8. for the next 2 years or so
  9. i want to build it so it can last me around 1 or 2 years playing games maxed out at 1280x1024 resolution
  10. In that case, the 7770 might just be good enough to pass you by.
  11. if your curious this is the monitor that i have i got is reeeeeally cheap for 80 dollars:

  12. the graphics i have right now are integrated they are intel gma 3000 so the upgrade to a videocard will give me soo much more eyecandy than i currently have which is none lol
  13. what do you guys think i should do with my cpu what coolers do you guys advise for overclocking
  14. The best price/performance is the Hyper 212 PLUS.
  15. but will it fit in my case?
  16. No good cooler will fit in that case, now that I look it is from RAIDMAX.

The 7770 is better with current drivers. Please don't try to prove your point with highly outdated tests. Keep in mind that Anand doesn't update those tests when new drivers are released, so they aren't relevant except shortly after they were administered.
  18. Oh, I am sorry that not everyone has the updated knowledge you do. Please forgive my ignorance..
