I haven't seen it, but I've heard it.

Yes, actually the digital camcorders, even the expensive ones, also 600-800
euro, are notorious for developing problems even after a few days. That's why
the digital recording pushes the technology beyond its limits;even at simple
8mm camcorders (talk about hi-8) metal particle tape was used, which is the
best tape that can produced currently.Normal VCRs use(d) CrO2 tapes and tape
decks produced satisfactory results with normal bias tapes.I don't know what
they've done to satisfy the increased bandwidth demand. but every day in the
shop I am working we have a customer bringing in his brand-new digital
camcorder, complaining that in less than a month it is kaputt. My 8 mm sony
CCD-TR425E camcorder after two years and a dozen tapes still operates
happily, what's more after all in digital?(Except digital cameras which are
better, but still image capturing in digital is totally different than
moving image in digital).
