Hi guys,

i'm a bit lost. I recently traded my HDD for an SSD in my Thinkpad W520. After installing all Drives / Firmware and Win7 from scratch my i7-2760QM doesent seem to hyperthread anymore. I already checked the bios entry and switched it off / on. The Taskmanager still shows only 4 Cores.

Any suggestions what the Problem could be ?

TDownload CPU-z and see what it reads. If everything is working right it should read as four cores 8 threads.

Hi rds1220,

I downloaded CPU-Z and it reads the Cpu type correct as i7 2760QM.
But there are only 2 Cores and 4 Threads displayed.

I'm guessing that I fucked up the driver / firmware installation.
Or is there another reason why the Cpu isnt working as intended ?

Thanks for your response
Greetings Iru

Hi,
did a quick google search after realizing that only 2 cores are activ.
Turns out that I set msconfig / boot / advanced options to 4 Cores.
Deselecting it and rebooting did the Trick. All 8 Cores are back :)

Thanks 4 your help guys
