cheers for the reply. the only reason i choose 16gb is because most of the gaming rigs ive seen have got 16gb. ive also heard that ivy bridge CPU's are better these days compared to sandy bridge's such as my 2500K. is that true?

Have you got an ARC near you? You can pick up a haf x case from them for 198 i think, it boosts your pccg shipping quite a bit that's all.

What is your price range?

I highly recommend i5 3570k and asrock z77 extreme4 mobo.
Evo 212 cpu cooler are awesome and for graphics card...i would wait til 660ti comes out.
They are meant to be a bargain and only 10% less gpu power than a 670 for alot cheaper.
If you give me a price range and tell me what parts you already have i'll list some parts for you. :)
For PSU grab a Corsair one off amazon (international shipping selected) and 850w modular only cost me 140 delivered to sydney.
As for the rest looks pretty sweet. :)

i5 3570k - $230
8gb corsair vengeance - $65
gtx 670 gigabyte overclocked - $450
asrock z77 extreme4 - $150
cooler master haf x case - $200
850w PSU Modular corsair - $125
hyper evo 212 cpu cooler - $35
128gb samsung 830 SSD - $119

Total = 1374

Did you want to get a better graphics card or maybe sli 2 of the gtx 670? :3

That is well in your price range and a good gaming rig.

ok. i would rather get a nvidia card as my current build has a AMD card and CPU so i want to try an intel CPU and nvidia card. my girlfriends dad has a 560 in his system and im always jealous everytime i watch him play the game as it runs as smooth as silk compared to my system. thats why i chose the 580. better than the 560 and i would rather spend more money on a graphics card so it will last me longer

yeah good parts man. cant thank you enough for taking the time to choose parts for me. as long as i can get them from pccasegear ill be happy. i want to have enough cash left over for some cathodes and some extension cable to tidy up the cable management.

Yeah mate definitely.
I recommend getting your video card off ebay and your power supply off amazon though.
I saved 70 dollars getting my msi lightning gtx 680 off ebay rather than pccg. And amazon had the psy 40 cheaper than pccg.
You will have no issues with maxxing most games graphics with a gtx 670 or 680. :) You could always get a 690 for 1000. It has 2 gpu's in it ;)

so i think ive got the gist of this. you guys are saying that the 670 or 680 is better than the 580. so ill be getting one of those now but i dont want the top of the line card. my main interests in it are how long it will last for in terms of games settings, its overclockability as i will push the max i can out of the card as well as the CPU so which one would be better for those points? i want to buy them online preferabley from PCCaseGear as i love getting packages in the mail :)

If you want gtx670 i would go with zotac for best out of the box overclocked speeds or a gigabyte gtx670.
Cpu definitely i5 3570k as all you need to do in basic is change the multiplier in bios settings.
Get the graphics card off ebay or amazon though due to how much cheaper they are on there compared to pccg.

The 670 is only 10% slower for $100+ cheaper . At such high performance 10% is nothing. I'd put the $100 in a bigger ssd.
