customize shortcut for windows logo key

hi
I have got a IBM thinkpad notebook which does not have a windows key. It
makes it really difficult to access the Start Menu and i have to use my mouse
everytime.Is it possible to create an equivalent shortcut key for that
function in my existing keyboard?

Use CTRL-ESC.
