Best most powerful intel processor for home use

Hello,
I would like to know which is the best intel processor type to get for home use on laptop. I have narrowed my search to i5 or i7.

Between the Intel® Core™ i5 and the Intel Core i7 mobile processor there may not be a lot of difference except in speed and the Intel Core i7 models with a "Q" in the model # which are quad cores. If you are looking for the very top of the line processor for a laptop today it would be the Intel Core i7-3940XM Extreme Edition http://ark.intel.com/products/71096/Intel-Core-i7-3940XM-Processor-Extreme-Edition-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

So it really comes down to what you need to do with your computer. All of the Intel Core i5's and about half of the Intel Core i7's are dual core processors with hyper threading. If you think you need a quad you want to get a one that has a "Q" model # or an Extreme Edition.
