Homebuild card recommendation

Hello! Hopefully this fall I will either upgrade my current computer (specs are at hand) or build my own. I was wondering what CPU/GPU I should get. CPU I was think an i5 2500k or an i7 clocked at least 3GHz. GPU I was thinking GTX 670/680. PSU is irrelevant. I'm more confused on whether a 670 is better for the buck than the 680. Any other recommended GPUs or CPUs? Thanks!

PS: This is for the homebuilt. My current PC would explode if I tried any of these! :D

GTX 670 is WAY better bang for the buck. 100$ less for 10% performance loss which can be evened out with overclocking. i7 is pretty much useless for gaming so go with the i5.
