Hello,
My sister forgot her password and I don't won' to go through allof the trouble using password cracking software. She has noting important on the hard drive. If I restore her computer to factory default will it also remove her lost password. The pc is a x1200 desktop running Windows 7

If you are talking about the Windows password, then yes. If it's a BIOS or even HDD password, then no.

BUT you don't need to lose everything.

You can copy off any data you want before restoring by downloading a bootable USB or CD (google ultimate boot CD). The data on the drive is *not* encrypted or otherwise protected by the windows password. Psoit if you need details

(Or you can remove the drive and install temporarily in another PC, post if you need details on this too)
