Nvidia 8800M GTS card problem

My laptop is a gateway p-173xl fx laptop and I'm having trouble with my Video controller NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTS, it originally came with a windows vista 64bit OS and i upgraded to windows 7 64bit awhile back and i reinstalled it recently and afterwards it comes up as standard vga adapter under device manager, I have also tried updating it to the latest nvidia update for the 8800M GTS and it says there is some hardware issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I am guessing it's a driver issue. Try the vista 64bit driver instead of the Win 7 driver.

I went to download the driver for windows vista 64 bit but it was the exact driver you would use for windows 7
  3. Well, do you have an option to roll back the driver?

If not, do you remember which version you previously used?

You can try and download older drivers
