farrout where did you buy it from? I live in Australia too and I sold my gtx 580 for $350 only a few weeks ago!

to answer your question, my single gtx 670 cant handle 3d metro2033, battlefield 3, crysis2 maxed at 1920x1080. You gtx 590 is about 10-15% faster so you would be able to to turn on more eye candies. But you'd have to lower the settings and AA to some extent for sure.

I paid $500 bucks for mine and apparently that was a good bargain, got it shipped from America tho. The Asus Direct cu II top models are quite rare and still out of stock over here. I will probably wait a few months before getting the second one cause no one is selling them for less than $600 at the moment.

Yeah that's a good way to go, if you go quad sli, then you will definitely be able to max out all the titles in 3d.

I've played 3D Metro 2033 and Crysis 2 with as well as 2 680's. Crysis 2 should run maxed out on a single 670, or at least it did quite well with a single 680 for myself. On the other hand, Metro 2033 still can't be maxed with 2 680's in 3D, but I can get close enough with DX11, high settings and tessellation (physx off, DoF off. You don't want DoF on with 3D anyways).

well I can play crysis 2 on a single gtx 670 in 3d but even though its playable, the framerates aren't exactly great. My gtx 670 actually beats most of the gtx 680s. But if I don't get ultra smooth 50+ fps gameplay, it affects my performance in mp games. So I don't consider it playable.

What is your CPU? Crysis 2 on a single 680 gives me 60 fps 95% of the time, and never goes below 50 at max settings. I am very much a stickler when it comes to high FPS, which is why I have 2 680's. Your 670 is only going to be faster due to OCing, which is also something I did with 1. With 2 680's, I don't bother, though it may help get a little more for Metro 2033.

Edit: When was the last time you played Crysis 2 in 3D? The reason I ask is that 9 months ago, when I played it, it got much lower FPS than a couple months ago. There may have been a patch or driver change that radically improved performance.

hmm from what I think, the gtx 670 is having driver issues with the crysis 2, with the lastest R304 beta drivers, I am getting solid 80-90 fps in battlefield 3 but whenever I run crysis2, I get about 50-70. And that fps is much lower in 3d. I will run the game in 3d maxed just in case and will let you know.

Crysis 2 seems to use a virtual 3D mode, a bit different than most. Rather than rendering two different views, it kind of alters the first one, making it far less demanding than normal. Due to this, you won't see a lot of FPS loss with 3D, at least not as much as you typically see. I would love to know if there was a way to stop this virtual mode in this game. You can see something is up when you look closely around objects and there is a bit of a blur or halo effect.

okay this is weird, my fps in crysis 2 3d at a given scene is around 71 avg and never dropping below 60, whereas when I play it in 2d, I only get 51.8fps avg. These nvidia drivers are working in a weird way with this game. In both cases, I am running the game all maxed out 1920x1080.
