I have a gigabyte 965p-ds3 rev 2.0. 4 gig ram. q6600 quad core intel cpu. I want to upgrade the video card to the evga 01G-P3-1557-KR GeForce GTX 550 Ti. The card is pci express 2.0 and the board is pci express. What kind of performance decrease should I expect. Less core - clock speed? Also, this board tends to get hot. Will the heat be less because of the reduction in bandwidth going from pci 2.0 to 1.1? Thanks.

you wont notice any performance difference....pcie 1.0 is plenty bandwidth for that card...and no the board will not become cooler in a 1.0 slot

The cards are backward compatible. You won't lose anything.

That card probably is more efficient than your old card so will probably run cooler.

yea I am really not sure what he is talking about with the heat? does he mean his motherboard runs hot? or the 550ti runs hot in another system that is 2.0 and he is asking if going in a 1.0 slot will make it cooler....idk
