Hello everyone,

Decided to upgrade my 5+ year old PC. I'm not heavy into PC games but I thought if I'm getting a new PC I may as well get one that can handle some gaming.

I'd like to play newish games on half decent settings (I own a 360 so anything on par or better looking than that would be great)

I can't spend more than £300 and I'd prefer to use ebay, I've already found a couple that look pretty good;

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated especially if you can find something on ebay. There's too many different processors and stuff to get my head round!

Thanks!

Neither of those computers have a graphics card (besides the integrated ones), so neither would be a good choice. Finding a rig on your budget that you'll be happy with will be a difficult task, and may not even be possible to tell you the truth. It might be possible if you take a risk and buy one on ebay, but like i said, it's a risk. And, in my humble opinion, buying a prebuilt system from ebay is pretty risky. you don't know the innards, you don't know if it's really new, it's just not my thing. In the end, it will take a lot of work on your part to find the right computer for you, all i can do is point you in the right direction. some questions...do you plan on upgrading later? do you like intel or amd? would you be interested in buying a basic computer and adding a graphics card to it?

here's a basic computer that can kinda game i suppose, and it's upgradable. Again, it's not the perfect solution, but it's decent considering your budget.

Can you post what PC you currently have? Sometimes the best cheap game systems are simple upgrades to existing systems plus strong video. For example, if you current system has any kind of intel core 2 processor then adding a strong video card will give you ability to play games at video med / high settings.

For example, the sysem posted above to meet the £300 target has a weak (for gaming) CPU and a weak video card. If you already had a weak but good enough CPU then the money can go to give you a better video card and to fix any holes in the current system (e.g. bring memory to 3GB minimum, larger disk). Clearly if your current system is too old then starting from scratch is best.

EDIT: OF the systems you posted, this one would be a good choice: Intel i3 2100 Sandybridge 4GB DDR3 320GB W7HP. The i3 is a strong processor. Later you could add a good low end video card (check prices for HD6670) that can just drop in. i3-2100 plus HD6670 makes a nice gaming rig. Teh AMD processors ref are not as strong for gaming.
