Hi,

Just wanted to know if it was safe to clean the thermal compound off of my Q6600 using regular household wipes. :sol:

You can but (and I'm not trying to be a jackass here) is it that much of a hassle to get a bottle of rubbing alcohol and coffee filters usually drug stores sell both things pretty cheap. a bottle of RA is a 1.09 and coffee filters aren't much more usually 1.99-2.99.

Sure, if you want. It'll work, it just won't work very well.

You really should clean that off with a proper solvent such as isopropyl alcohol or non-lubricating electronic contact cleaner.

I wouldn't. I would clean it off better than that before applying new thermal compund.
