I have a big problem. I can't record gameplay or anything with fraps or any other recorder since i upgraded to a 6850. Not that i can't record, i can but its so laggy and unplayable that i can't describe it. I didn't have any problems with my 9800gt when recording. other specs: Athlon II X3 445 CPU 3.1 GHz, 4gb of DDR3 RAM, 160GB Seagate barracuda, MSI 870S C45 FX, Corsair CX500. Will i get rid of the lag if i unlock the 4th core on my athlon? Please help i can't get paid on you tube if i don't make any videos and my 9800gt is fried so i'm stuck with the 6850 until i fix this (i'm currently low on money anyway because i bought the 6850 so a better CPU is out of the question for now). So will i get rid of the lag while recording with my 4th core or do you guys know anything that can help me until i get the money for a new CPU (if i have to)

probably just lower the game settings? what game are you talking about? have you updated your Drivers? if it is a DirectX 11 game it will be much more heavy since now you can use it, and the 9800 doesn't support it, just lower some game settings if you have upgraded the drivers it should increase your game performance and consequently increase performance while recording it.

Since you had such a low end video card and the dramatic change in drivers,Make sure you go in and delete all the old drivers from your 9800gt...

Actually all games now lag when recording, even older games like nfs most wanted. Not to mention that now i can't even play GTA 4 without having my game keep chopping and cutting. I solve one mistake but make another, the 6850 may have made all games (except GTA 4 which it ruined) playable on max settings but it made recording nearly impossible since the cpu isn't strong enough for this card

I probably should have added that since i got the 6850 i reinstalled my OS so the old drivers are gone.

It can also be used for overclocking your GPU but if you don't want that, leave it at default settings. And MSI Afterburner is free. You could also try recording to a spare/different HDD to minimize lag. :)

Hmm didn't know i could record with MSI afterburner :D i'll give it a try but will my videos still be of good quality like they are with fraps? Oh and with this CPU the only thing i could do is downclock the GPU to make breathing room for the CPU to be able to record and save its trouble on keeping up with the GPU
