Hi, I'm about to replace my existing Radeon HD 6450 graphics card with a new Geforce GT 640 graphics card but not sure if I need to remove my existing cards hardware drivers before installing and loading the new cards hardware drivers?
The new cards installation procedure mentions nothing about leaving or removing the existing drivers.
yes you have to completely remove the old drivers in order to avoid any possible crashes. Just uninstall and you should be fine. But if your as paranoid as I am, then you can go to f8 safe mode after uninstalling and then use driver sweeper( http://download.cnet.com/Driver-Sweeper/3000-2094_4-752... ) to remove every registry related to the amd driver. And then plug in your gt640 and install the drivers from Nvidia.
