Hello,
I have upgraded my old system with twin video card to twin radeon 7900 series video cards but my Gateway 32" monitor cannot display over 1920 x 1200. Would an hdmi cable prevent it from doing so? I used to run 2500 x1600 without issue on my old Nvidia setup but used a DVI cable.

Use a Dual link DVI cable and connect it to the DVI slot that says DVI-D if its connected to the wrong slot it will be limited to 1920x1200

Yeah it has to be dual DVI or HDMI 1.4 which sould support full resolution. The hdmi I tried to use was HDMI 1.3 which only goes slightly above HD. THe DVI cable works fine full resolution now.
