I'll try and be quick and concise so you can help me easier. I'll link all my hardware at the end.

I got a sapphire 6950 with a bios switch to put into my new computer. (Its an entire new build all new parts).

I go to do a test run with bios switch on default all my parts are hooked up outside of the case and it boots with video.

I go to put everything into the case and when I'm installing windows I see these blue and purple lines appear over the screen. They keep showing up until the whole screen is covered with them. I shut off the computer because I can't see anymore and then when I reboot I don't get a display, but I'm pretty sure that windows boots.

I tried again flipping the bios switch this time and the same thing happened slowly in the case above. The lines came and then eventually I don't get a display.

I'm using a vga to dvi adapter that came with the gfx card, I tried testing with a different adapter, I tried using pci to mole x, I tried using my older non-pci gfx card and that worked with my mobo with the adapter, I tried using integrated graphics on the mobo and that worked with no adapter and with an adapter.

My hardware is:

pretty sure this is my gfx

Do you guys think that the gfx is just bad and I got unlucky or a psu problem? In the manual it says a 500w psu should handle it

I'm giving the graphics card to my friend to test. He says his psu is bigger than mine and he might be able to test a dvi monitor too.

It worked briefly before switching anything and it still messed up, and afterwards when I switched it it worked briefly as well.

and I read that you have to flash it through command prompt before it gets to 6970

ok so here's what happened.

testing on my computer with vga adapter:
gfx card with molex converter = artifacts till screen gone
gfx card with bios switch 1 = artifacts till screen gone
gfx card with bios switch 2 = artifacts till screen gone

testing on computer with better psu and mobo and dvi and had the same problems

this pretty much is a guarantee that it was the gfx card's fault right and not my other parts?
