Sapphire HD 7870 OC Version Low FPS?

Hello,

I recently bought a new gaming rig.
i5 3570k with Coolermaster 212 EVO
HD 7870 SApphire OC
SSD Samsung 830 128gb
WD 500GB HDD
RAM Corsair Low Profile 2x4gb Kit 1600mhz

And now my question is how much fps should i get in BF3 i get on big maps around 35fps-45fps like caspian border multiplayer, in building 50+ etc. Settings ultra 4xmsaa 1080p. Is that normal or am I doing something wrong? have the newest driver 12.4 from the ATI site. CPU is stock wouldn´t clock it now because of warranty as the gpu too.

Another Question Skyrim. Also 1080p, FXAA high, 8xmsaa, Ultra settings. Constant 60fps, but when i look on mountains in the air it is dropping like to 40fps and it´s everything but not playable. Any suggestions?

I appreciate every help!

I have a HD7850 OC edition with every single thing as high as it can go, and I still manage to get 35-40fps easily. It doesn't seem normal, but checking benchmarks show that average fps is around 35-40 on ultra. I personally play on 1920x1080(benchmark listed is 1920x1200) so I get a little more than the benchmark. Seems fine to me.

For skyrim, I am not too sure, as I am downloading it right now, and I'll find some results and see.

sounds like a CPU bottleneck. you have a k-edition chip, did you OC it? if not, I would recommend getting it to 4.0 to 4.2ghz. should be easy for that chip

thanks for some answers.

can it really bottleneck a new ivi bridge 3.4 ghz quad core? It also has its turbo boost. In 3d mark vantage i get a graphic score of 25237 and a cpu score of 19387.
Hope this result helps some. And if I OC will the cpu stay the whole time at the oced clock or is it like idle about 1ghz and gaming then on 4.+?

the CPU will throttle itself according to workload even if you OC it. while you have a very good chip, things like fps drops on big BF3 maps are a classic symptom of a CPU bottleneck. feel free to post back if you OC your CPU and do not resolve this problem and I'm sure we can figure something out. I mean, your performance isn't that bad at all, but with only 4xmsaa, I'd expect your game to run a 60fps flat on a 7870

good luck!

cpu bottleneck ??? lol ? :D  i haven't got any cpu bottleneck on i7 950 with gtx 590 when my cpu was on stock clock 3.0 ghz :D DDD what a cpu bottleneck guys omg !!!

go check it with msi afterburner ... if gpu usage is 99% then there is no botteleneck by cpu or ram !!!

my card runs at 100% bf3 and cpu usage about 80% so i think there is no bottleneck?

yeah, sounds fine.

maybe try the new 12.7 beta catalyst drivers?

the main reason I thought it might be a CPU bottle neck was you mentioned two games known to have CPU bottlenecks in certain situations...

do drivers increase fps? I installed the beta 12.6 i dont see any 12.7?

I have the exact same card in my computer but with an older/not OCed Corei-7(2.66ghz) 920 Bloomfield and Intel DX58SO board, your FPS is is about the same as mine, when recording though it drops below 25 how do you check the GPU load?

the fps is fine :)  you check it with the free program GPU-Z, then second tab, and it´s called sensor, and there it shows you the gpu load, temperature, etc. :)
