Hello guys, I have a question. It says on Intel's site that the G645 can only support DDR3-1066. Does that mean that a DDR3-1333/1600 will not work with this CPU? I am building a new system soon and this processor fits perfectly with my tight budget. I am sorry, I'm noob when it comes to computer stuff.
Any help is much appreciated :D

my PLANNED specs:
Gigabyte H61M-DS2
Intel Pentium G645
G.skill 4gb DDR3 (1333/1600mhz)
500gb WD HDD
Sapphire HD 6670 1gb GDDR5
Antec VP550

Solution

Not really! The frequency will be lower, but the latency will be better (i.e. 7-7-7-20, instead of 9-9-9-24). Some utils, like HWINFO64 can read the SPD, the tiny chip on the stick, that contains the table of parameters for different frequencies.

Yes, the motherboard auto-downclocks the RAM speed, so it works. I thought it supported 1333 though, weird..
Anyway, I have a similar system being planned out friend! G860, MSI H61M-P31, Crucial RAM, and a 7770 :)

hi! is that MSI motherboard better than the Gigabyte? I heard from a friend that MSI mobo's have high failure rate and that i should go with Asus or gigabyte only. Is that really true?

It's all preference, I mean, Gigabyte & MSI both make really good boards! MSI doesn't have a high failure rate, I mean come on, every company has their own bad batches. Just so long as you go with either an ASUS, Gigabyte, or MSI board you'll be good - they're known as the big 3 for motherboards!

I have the G645 and MSI H61M-P31 :p built it a couple of days ago, this motherboard has OC genie for overclocking "K" series cpu.. very useful I think because practically you can't overclock on an H61 chipset..

^ I agree, but the G860 is $5 more on newegg.. but it's worth the price because of the higher ram frequency and 100MHz speed bump.. Good for gaming.

Is it worth the $30 difference? because here in my country the 7750 is about $110 while the 6670 is only $80 :) if it's worth then I'll go with the 7750
