I have had an Acer Aspire 5735Z laptop for about 3-4 years now. Had very few problems with it but now the power lead is having problems connecting with the internal workings. It often beeps while it starts and stops charging. The end of the lead heats up and it sparks. Is it possible to mend this sort of problem? My partner has an Acer Aspire 5336 and I really dont like the build quality, it has a cheap plastic box, in fact I wish we had kept an old laptop and perhaps had the inside transfered to that, if thats possible. I've been reading the reviews of laptops on here and I know now that Acer would be the last choice next time!

Welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums,
Seems that you have a broken power jack. This is not uncommon and you might be able to find a vid on youtube explaining the repair process. I don't have time right now but go to youtube and search your model along with power jack replacement... see what you come up with
Good Luck
