Hi, im totally buying the i7 2600 with the asus p67 deluxe and kingston 1600Mhz ram and a WD sataII caviar black 640GB hard drive... My question is do i need a new card for gaming at 1920x1080 or is the 5850 just fine... I dont want EVERYTHING maxed out but yeah mostly textures need to be high. Is it worth buying a new one or will i enjoy my gaming for another year, or should i consider CF?

the 5850 is dated as I'm sure you know, but it's still a strong performer. like you said, you won't be maxing out too many games, but most should still play smoothly. I would just stay put for now, buy the rest of your system and set it up. then play a few games, watch a few videos (in full HD) of other people playing the same games on youtube with a higher performance card, then decide for yourself if the money is worth the performance difference.

as for CF, I find the 5850 a bit overpriced for what it can do. I would invest in a new card if you're not happy after setting up your system

remember, the longer you "drag out" this process, the more prices will fall :p

yeah im thinking of buying a 6950 in a couple of months but i cant find a way to ship it to greece except one card from e-bay and i want the XFX so im kinda picky.... is the 6950 a good choice for a card on the upcoming 2 months?

I just went from a 4870 to a 6950 and it made the difference between high and ultra settings on games but was not a huge jump, since the card you have is better than my old 4870 (and has DX11) I suggest the difference is not going to be big enough to justify the upgrade. BTW my 4870 could play everything on high at 1920 x 1080, try the 5850 and don't bother to upgrade until you are unhappy with the performance and then go for a better card than the 6950.
