Last response: in Graphics & Displays

I seem to have installed the cards properly and they pass all benchmarks no problem but when i play any game with them the fps drops rapidly from 30-15 frames on games i could play at 45 frames max with single card.
I am positive i installed correctly i have 12.6 catalyst drivers and deleted my old ones before install.
The 6950's are diffrent brands ones a 6950 2gb HIS Ice Q and the other a XFX 6950 2gb both running at 840 core clock 1325 mem clock.
I have a formula V motherboard 1100T processor oc'ed to 4ghz and 800watt gold cooler master psu
I don't understand what the problem is. Could anyone help me out before i return the card in frustration?

Are both cards in a x16/x16 configuration? or x16/x8. You may want to check your motherboard manual to see the PCI-E slots have the same specs. For example, I am not asking if it's PCI-E 2.0 or 3.0.

You can also check with GPU-Z when the cards are in crossfire mode. Look for something that says PCI-E #.# x16 @ 16 #.#. Then check the numbers on both cards.

my motherboard says both are operating at x16

Good luck, I haven't heard of people having a lot issues with a HD6950 crossfire setup not sure what else it could be. I know brand doesn't matter and won't effect performance, but I'm not sure if each manufacturer has a separate BIOS for their cards and maybe if their running different BIOS then that is what is effecting performance? Not sure I'm probably wrong about that but keep the thread posted on your findings
