I am planning to make a gaming PC. i have a budget under $150 for CPU.

I was thinking of AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4GHz priced near to my budget. It has 4 cores and i hear it performe really well with games.

Also give me a list of good motherboards to support the CPU's. (motherboard Budget Around $100)

Thankz in advance....

bro...I'd rather recommend an i5 3570k ..the best gaming CPU for 2012-13 ..its a quad core with 3.8 GHz clock...but its costly than ur budget ..its about 200$ ..this amd quad core is no match for this...only amds 12 core processor gives the performance as this...
so I'd recommend to save n extend ur budget...
u can easily get a mobo for this i5 in about 70-90$ ...the mobo must have an lga 1155 socket...

Why not just get the FX6300? It's also below $150.

i3 3220
paired with
Asrock Z77 pro3 motherboard

then you could maybe in the future go mad and get a 3770k or a 3570k and overclock it easily on the z77 board without a re-installation of windows or a new motherboard

This might not be a bad idea if only Haswell won't come out this year. By the time he decides to replace the CPU, ivy bridge could be phased out already and he is stuck with no upgrade path.

Why not do the opposite? Buy an i5-3470 with a cheap H61/B75 motherboard which will probably cost similar to what you suggested but still have the horsepower after a couple of years rather than an i3.
