Ok so i'm stuck between getting a gtx 670 or a 7970.
I just looked at the prices and the 7970 reference model from asus is actually cheaper than the gtx 670!
I know that the 670 has pretty much the same performance but i intend to overclock the 7970 if i buy it.

With the new AMd driver the hd7970 now beat the 670gtx so go for it.

The lastest hd7970 + lastest AMD driver even beat the 680gtx superclocked.

with the latest 7970 do you mean the GHz edition? because that version still costs way too much for me. It's the reference one im looking at.

I think he just means the latest driver... the 12.7 driver for AMD improves performance in several titles for the 7970.

At the same price, the 7970 is the better option.

Both are great. There are competitive reviews out...there may be one particular game you play that is better one card or the other. ATI tends to do cross monitor better. Check you have the right display outputs (nVidia cards have 2 dvi out, ATI have more displayport, only 1 dvi). I'd be surprised if you are unhappy with either choice.

cant go wrong with either. the GTX 670 will have edge in some games that are nvidia optimized or use cuda at standard high definition 1920x1080 at a lower price point, the 7970 gains advantage at other games and scales better when you reach multiple screens or hit 2560x1600 resolution
